What Kind Of Carrot Should I Get?

Baby or Mini - These small, tasty carrots are best used fresh or for pickling.

Chantenay - Chantenay are an all purpose carrot good for canning or freezing. Chantenay carrots have wide shoulders, stocky build, and blunt tips which make them better for stony or heavy soil than other carrots.

Danvers - Danvers are an all purpose carrot that are similar to Chantenay but longer. They have good flavor but are not as sweet as Nantes. Danvers carrots are a popular choice for juice.

Nantes - Nantes have been a favorite for gardeners for years. These full flavored carrots are sweet, tender and crisp with a sausage shape and blunt tip. Nantes carrot are also good for heavier soil.

Imperator - Imperator are the kind of carrot that you would find at the grocery store. Imperator's are easy to harvest and stand up to shipping well. Not recommended for heavy soil. Imperator grow best in loose/sandy soil.
