Burgess Strain Buttercup Heirloom Open Pollinated Winter Squash

95-100 days.       A turban type squash with dark green rind, and blocky shape, has a gray "button" on the blossom end. The Burgess Strain Buttercup Squash has an excellent flavored, fiberless, dark orange flesh, which is thick and dry. Very good winter keeper, also good for canning. Fruits grow to 3-5 lbs. A New England favorite.

95-100 days.       Introduced in 1894 by Peter Henderson, this variety remains popular today for it's sweet, delicious, sweet potato-like flavor. The Delicata Squash gets the nickname Peanut Squash from it's oblong shape, growing to 7-9" in length, by 3" in diameter.

Golden Delicious Heirloom Open Pollinated Winter Squash

100-105 days.       Introduced by Gill Bros. Seed Co. of Portland Oregon in 1926, this variety was developed from a cross between Delicious and Boston Marrow. Heart or top shaped, the Golden Delicious Squash has a striking red-orange exterior with bright orange-yellow, thick, fine-grained flesh.

Blue Hubbard Heirloom Open Pollinated Winter Squash

100-120 days.       Another New England favorite, this reliable old-time variety produces large, 15- 40 lb. fruits (we actually got a 45.5 lb beauty in our 2009 garden!), on vigorous vines. The Blue Hubbard Squash is a pretty blue-gray-green, slightly ridged, coarsely-warted, with a neck at both ends.

Golden Hubbard Heirloom Open Pollinated Winter Squash

90-105 days.       Introduced in 1898, this enduring beauty is on of the most attractive of the hubbards. The Golden Hubbard Squash is teardrop in shape, with a hard, moderately warted, brilliant red shell, bearing tan stripes at the blossom end. Fruits weigh 8-10 lbs., and are 10-12" in length, by 8-9" in diameter. Flesh is solid, thick, sweet, fine-grained, and dry, orange- yellow in color, and with fine flavor.

Sweet Meat Heirloom Open Pollinated Winter Squash

85-110 days.       A favorite of the Northwest, developed in Oregon, and introduced by the Gill Bros. Seed Company of Portland, Oregon. The vines of the Sweet Meat Squash are very vigorous, and require a good amount of room to grow, crowding out other plants if not given their space. Fruits have a very hard, thick slate-gray skin, with a thick golden-yellow flesh, sweet dry, and fiberless.

Table Queen Acorn Heirloom Open Pollinated Winter Squash

75-90 days.       A dark green acorn shaped heirloom squash that is descended from a heart shaped squash grown by the Arikara Indians in the early 1800s. The Table Queen Acorn Squash was first introduced by the Iowa Seed Co. in 1913. Deep orange flesh is fine-textured, sweet, dry, and thick. Good for baking, and immature fruit can also be used as a summer squash.

90 days.       Introduced by Sakata Seed Co. of Japan, in 1934. May have originated in China. A popular low calorie alternative to pastas. The Vegetable Spaghetti Squash produces vigorous spreading vines, with 5-7 fruits per plant. Fruits have a buff skin, turning pale yellow at maturity, with a pale yellow interior flesh that breaks up into spaghetti like strands when cooked. Squash are 8-12" long, by 5-6 " in diameter. Boil whole for 20-30 min , or bake.
