Asparagus Beetle - The Asparagus Beetle feed on the young shoots and leafs of Heirloom / Open Pollinated Vegetable Garden Asparagus Plant.

Description: The Asparagus Beetles Larvae are plump, up to 1/3 inch long, olive green to grayish, with dark head and legs. The adult is ¼ inch long, bluish-black with four white spots and an orange margin on the wing covers.

Damage: Beetles and larvae feed on the leaves and young shoots of the Heirloom / Open Pollinated Asparagus plant.

Plants affected: Heirloom / Open Pollinated Asparagus.

Home Control: If Garden plant debris are removed at the end of the season there will be less places for the Asparagus Beetles to live thru the winter.

Commercial Control: Spray plants with rotenone, Sevin, or malathion.
