I’m having trouble getting the seeds out of the ziplock bags.

We use ziploc bags inside of our paper seed envelopes to protect them from moisture and keep them organized. However, small seeds can cling to the plastic due to static. Try these tips to release them:

  1. Moisture from Breath – Lightly breathe into the bag to discharge static, then shake seeds onto a light-colored plate or paper towel. Let seeds dry before re-storing.
  2. Use with Planting Medium – Add a bit of soil to the bag, shake, and sow seeds and soil together so none are left behind.
  3. Chill in the Refrigerator – Cooling seed envelopes before use can reduce static cling.
  4. Add Dry Sand – Mix a small amount into the bag before planting to prevent cling and help spread seeds evenly.

Bonus Tip: For planting tiny seeds individually, wet a pencil tip to pick up and place seeds precisely in the soil.
